You are at the home page of FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 2002 in Tualatin, Oregon, USA. Our team is part of the Tualatin High School Engineering Club. As the name suggests, robotics is used by the team to teach engineering, physical science, math, and technology. FIRST was established largely to help effect culture change and foster pride in science and technological innovation. Cultural change is a very ambitious goal, but FIRST has already made great strides towards affecting significant change. They are doing this in a classic, "grass roots" way - one person at a time, with those people then becoming advocates and spreading the feeling / word further. The goal of this team is less ambitious, but important nonetheless - to make technology education more easily approachable and widely accessible to our local community. Team members are primarily students who are enthusiastic about science and technology, their parents, local engineering and education professionals who donate their time as mentors, and local businesses who provide financial and material support. All of the groups previously mentioned are essential to our team and its goals. |
